Dream Team Charity Dinner returns to St Albans

Dream Team Charity Dinner returns to St Albans

Book now for this exclusive event on Wednesday 3 October.

Following the success of last year's event, Andrei Lussmann and Nick McGrown from Lussmanns will join forces with locally celebrated chefs, Nick Male from Loft, St Albans, Phil Thompson from the renowned Thompson St Albans and Shwan Baban from modern Turkish restaurant Tabure to create a stunning four course menu.

This year, all profits will be donated to Herts Young Homeless, an independent charity supporting vulnerable people on Hertfordshire since 1998.

This year's event on 3 October aims to build on the first Dream Team Charity Dinner in February 2017 which raised £10,483 for local counselling charity Youth Talk, based in St Albans.

New libraries for Redbourn and Wheathampstead

New libraries for Redbourn and Wheathampstead

Building work has started on new libraries for Redbourn and Wheathampstead. The libraries will be moving from their current homes to modern new facilities on the same site as their village fire stations.

Work began at both sites on 10 September and the new libraries are due to open to the public in the spring. The fire stations will operate throughout the works, with minimal disruption expected. Plans are in place to make sure that fire engines will be available to cover the villages at all times. The fire stations will also be refurbished as part of the development and will operate alongside the libraries once they open.

The aim is to deliver bright, attractive, welcoming, flexible, tech-enabled libraries in convenient locations, and free up the existing library sites for alternative uses.

New Gritting Routes for St Albans Roads

New Gritting Routes for St Albans Roads

The county will be doing more to keep Albans moving this winter, as Hertfordshire County Council has approved new gritting routes to help keep key roads clear of snow and ice.

The county council’s fleet of 58 gritters will, where practical, now grit roads to schools, care homes, doctor’s surgeries, key pharmacies and libraries, as well as all the county’s A and B roads, bus routes (including school bus routes), roads with a 10% gradient or steeper and at least one route into every village.

The county council is also offering salt to schools to help them stay open during icy weather, as well as to parish and town councils who can use their local knowledge to identify exactly where best to use the salt during severe weather.
