Ancient Egypt

Ancient Egypt

The Museum of St Albans is host to a new exhibition about the lives of the ancient Egyptians who lived and died during the reign of the Pharoahs.

Homes, hobbies, work, writing and other elements of the daily lives of these people will all feature alongside the paraphanalia of the Egyptian world of the dead - their religion, funerary practices, preparations for the afterlife and, of course, mummies.

Along side the main exhibition will be a series of talks, workshops and activities.

The exhibition runs from 24 Jan to 17 May 2015.

A new Museum and Gallery for St Albans

Renaissance St Albans

The renaissance: St Albans project aims to develop an exceptional new museum and gallery of national and international significance in the Grade II Town Hall.

This new cultural facility will offer a contemporary public space at the heart of the city, with inspirational learning opportunities, a new art gallery and a learning journey that links to key heritage sites across St Albans.

The St Albans Museums and Galleries Trust, in partnership with St Albans Museums and the University of Hertfordshire, is aiming to raise £6.75 million to realise the project in 2017.

The Council has pledged £2.25 million, and to secure a further £2.5 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Trust need to raise £1.7 million by July 2015.

You can help by donating, attending an event, fundraising and spreading the word to raise awareness of the project.
