Watford Colosseum
Watford Colosseum is a 1,309 seat venue in the heart of Watford and is home to the best live music and entertainment outside London. Watford Colosseum was built in 1938 as the Watford Town Hall Assembly Rooms to the design of architect Charles Cowles-Voysey and acoustician Hope Bagenal. Bagenal’s other acoustic projects include the refurbishment of the Royal Albert Hall and the construction of the Royal Festival Hall.

Watford’s premier concert venue is world renowned for its acoustic qualities. Julian Lloyd Webber described Watford Colosseum as “the finest recording venue in the world” and it has been used to record the soundtracks of Lord of the Rings, The Sound of Music and Star Wars. In 1995, Pavarotti came to Watford Colosseum to record Verdi’s Inno delle Nazioni with the Philharmonia Chorus. More recently, recordings from BBC Concert Orchestra have taken place in the auditorium.

  • Sat 23 Mar - Los Endos

    7:30 PM

Don’t miss this opportunity to see and hear all the drama and excitement of a Genesis gig from the 70’s and 80’s. It is easy to visualise murderous goings-on on croquet lawns, unrequited love, and Rael expressing his desires and dreams in a gloomy and dark New York city! Under a sweeping and dramatic light show reminiscent of the era, the intricate and powerful music of Genesis is recreated with amazing accuracy. Los Endos - Ultimate Genesis are proud to play for the first time at the Watford Colosseum and are bringing along an awesome set of the very best songs from Genesis’ 70’s repertoire. For 2019 we are basing the show around ‘Selling Lamb by the Pound’ - with extended suites from the amazing ‘Lamb Lies Down on Broadway’ album interspersed with material from all the other great albums. Or, chunks of Lamb simmering in a rich gravy of Prog Rock! The band have been together for over 10 years, painstakingly perfecting the craft of recreating this amazing music for their growing fan base. We feel privileged to keep this incredible music the way it is supposed to be enjoyed - played live. Come and share the experience and keep Prog Rock Live! Pre-Show Dining Reserve a table in the Forum Restaurant for pre-show dining before Los Endos: Ultimate Genesis presents Selling Lamb and enjoy high-quality modern cuisine and exceptional service. • Sat 30 Mar - Verdi Requiem

    7:30 PM

The Three Choirs Concert has been more than two years in the planning and promises to be a very special occasion. Verdi’s Requiem is widely enjoyed by audiences and performers alike, universally acknowledged as a masterpiece of the choral repertoire - some consider it the pinnacle of achievement of choral composition. The work will be performed as part of a 30-year tradition among three of Harrow’s premier choirs, Harrow Choral Society, Harrow Philharmonic Choir and Stanmore Choral Society. Each choir enjoys a reputation for the high quality of their performances. Accompanied by a full orchestra, the ensemble features some 200 voices, enabling the Verdi Requiem to be performed in the style, and to the standard, that the composer intended. Watford Colosseum is one of the few venues in the Home Counties able to accommodate the size of choir, orchestra and audience anticipated for this event. The Conductor will be Simon Williams who is Music Director of Harrow Choral Society and of the choir of St George’s Hanover Square. The four soloists for the evening are of exceptional quality. In 2017, Anush Hovhannisyan (Soprano) represented her country in Cardiff Singer of the World and was a finalist in the 2018 International Opera Awards. Canadian born Trevor Bowes (bass) is internationally acclaimed not just for his voice but for his musical interpretation and delivery. Alexander James Edwards is one of the UK’s best-loved tenors and it is no exaggeration to say that Mezzo Soprano Sarah Pring is in constant international demand. Accompanying the Three Choirs will be the Harrow-based and much-admired Trinity Orchestra, who will comprise more than 50 instruments - including the off-stage trumpets and, of course, the Verdi Bass Drum! Pre-Show Dining Reserve a table in the Forum Restaurant for pre-show dining before Three Choirs Concert - Verdi: Requiem and enjoy high-quality modern cuisine and exceptional service. Sit back, enjoy your meal and return to your table in the interval for your pre-ordered interval drinks.
