The Hypocaust The Hypocaust

A short walk from the Verulamium Museum, the 1800 year old hypocaust and its covering mosaic floor have been left in their original Roman location where they formed part of the reception and meeting rooms of a large town house. Discovered in the 1930s, the site is now housed by a new building with raised walkways that opened in 2005.
