Woburn Safari Park offers visitors a full day out, with 350 acres to explore in your car and on foot. The road safari allows you to encounter a wide variety of animals with room to roam including elephants, rhinos, tigers, big cats, buffalo, camels and monkeys. You can also explore the Wild World Leisure Park which includes penguin world, land of the lemurs, a sea lion cove, the tiny tots safari trail, swan boats and the Great Woburn Railway. During the main season there are daily events including:

  • Sea Lion displays (indoors) and keeper talks (outdoors)
  • Birds of Prey flying demonstrations
  • Animals and birds in cction (including free flying parrots)
  • Keeper talks at feeding time: Monkey Business, Penguin World and Land of the Lemurs

In addition there are new attractions now on offer including:

  • Desert Springs sees the arrival of the mischievous mob of meerkats, a ‘prickle’ of porcupines and an adorable pair of yellow mongoose named Basil and Sybil. Desert Springs offers visitors a fantastic insight into the animals’ natural behaviours, as the habitat has been specially designed to closely resemble these animals’ wild home.
  • The Deer Stop is a great new station on the Great Woburn Railway. Check the timetable and jump aboard the train at Bison Halt. Take a ride and see the beautiful Fallow deer grazing in their paddock and learn all about the history of deer at Woburn on the fascinating information boards.
  • Elephant Meadow is a specially designed show ground where you’ll catch the elephant keeper’s daily meet and greet with Asian elephants and get close enough to touch! The meadow gives our elephants space to bathe, dust and graze happily, whilst visitors have an excellent view of them enjoying their new meadow.
  • Sea Lion Cove is a great new attraction combining a live action sea lion demonstration in the indoor pool, with cutting edge 3D cinema technology. This unique experience brings an amazing new dimension to visitor entertainment at the park.
  • Refreshments are available at the Safari Restaurant (healthy options available), the Two by Two Restaurant (fast food), karts and kiosks.

A range of special experiences are available including: animal adoption, a VIP ranger tour, 'a week on the wild side', and children's workshops. See website for details, times and prices.

Review Overview

Unlucky with the weather - review by south-sider

The sun was shining one Sunday morning in early March so we decided to have a day out at Woburn. We started with a drive around the safari park - enjoying the fact that the animals had so much room to roam.

Lunch at the main Safari Restaurant was good - plenty of choice, children's meals, bottle warmer and microwave for little ones, daily specials and two-for-one hot drinks (check your bill - the offer was in the main season pocket guide but the restaurant staff weren't aware of it!).

Then the sky darkened and it started hailing. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to occupy us indoors - the shop was full of expensive soft animals (not really our thing), the soft play centre was overcrowded as everyone took shelter and the railway ride was a cold and rather wet experience (open sided carriages).

We weren't able to enjoy the different attractions of the outdoor foot safari area and so our advice would be - check the weather forecast before you go! At £17 for adults and £12 for children (aged 3 and over) in the 'main season', you'll want to make a day of a visit to this well organised and run attraction. [Mar 09]
