The Welwyn Roman Baths are situated under the A1 (M) at its junction with the A1000 just off the central roundabout of the Welwyn By Pass. Preserved in a steel vault under the motorway, and once part of an elaborate villa, the bath house remains include the layout of the cold, warm and hot rooms and the heating system. Also on display are archaeological finds from the Welwyn area and an exhibition devoted to the history of the site, which was uncovered during the 1960s and 70s by the Welwyn Archaeological Society. There are visitor toilets on site and refreshments are available from nearby Welwyn village.
