Bushey Museum opened in 1993. It is a registered charity, run by volunteers in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council.
The museum portrays Bushey's social history through displays on life in the village, locally made products, documents, historic maps and works of art. In particular, it has a large permanent collection of works and articles relating to Sir Hubert von Herkomer RA and his world-renowned Art School. Also on show is the Lucy Kemp-Welch Memorial Trust Collection, including many paintings of horses by the 'Black Beauty' illustrator.
The museum has temporary exhibitions and a small shop selling books, cards, craft items and gifts. Admission is free. New volunteers and members of the 'Friends of Bushey Museum' are always welcome. See the museum's website for current exhibitions and children's holiday activities.
