The British Schools Museum is an independent museum run by volunteers. It has different buildings, including schools, classrooms and a headmaster's house, which tell the story of elementary education in Britain from 1810 until 1969. Visitors can enjoy guided tours, a discovery trail, exhibitions and special events. The museum is open at specified times (see below). School and group visits can be accommodated with advance notification. The museum has a Friends scheme and also welcomes new volunteers (training provided).
