Owned and managed by Hertfordshire County Council, the park was created on green belt land in 1971. It has 175 acres of woodland, meadows, parkland and open water for sailing and fishing. There is a small rare breeds farm with cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, poultry and rabbits. Children can enjoy the '100 Aker Wood', inspired by Winnie the Pooh, adventure and play areas. Refreshments are available from a kiosk selling hot and cold drinks, cakes, snacks and ice creams. Admission is free for pedestrians and cyclists but there is a charge for car parking.
