Formed in 1968, the St Albans branch of the LCGB meets monthly from September to May. It arranges exhibitions and library displays, visits to railway installations, walks tracing old railways and group trips on special trains. Visitors and new members are welcome.

Scoots L₂O is a Wheels to Work Project funded by Hertfordshire County Council under the Big Herts Big ideas programme, and run by the Community Development Agency for Hertfordshire. L₂O seeks to enable those with the inability to travel with a solution in the form of a 50cc scooter.

L₂O is open to anyone that follows these lifestyle habits:

• People over the age of 16
• Those who live or work within the Big Herts Big Ideas Project Area (Primarily St Albans, Hemel Hempstead and Watford)
• Those with a secure work, training or education placement

Clients will pay a weekly payment towards the cost of the scooter, to which they will receive full ownership of at the end of a 12 month period. Once accepted onto L₂O the client will receive the following:

• 50cc scooter
• Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)
• Continual support from the L₂O Project team and Aftercare
• Scooter Insurance and Tax
• 12 Month Service Plan
• Ongoing Maintenance
• Breakdown Recovery
• Safety Equipment
• A cost saving in the region of £700+

The only external cost that the client needs to cover is their fuel, thus guaranteeing a huge saving compared to if the client were to purchase a scooter independently.

L₂O not only allows us to guarantee our clients have independent transport by the time they leave our scheme but it also allows us to create massive savings for them too.

Formed in 2002 by residents determined to save the Grade 2 listed signal box. The Trust has restored the building and the signal box is now open to the public as an interactive signalling museum (admission free). Support is needed from anyone who would like to become a friend of the signal box for an annual donation of just £10. Friends will receive newsletters, invitations to social and business meetings of the trust, and have preferential access to the signal box.

Pressure group with the aim of imposing a 20 mile-per-hour speed limit across St Albans' residential streets.

A petition is available to sign on their website for those who would like to see this speed reduction enforced.

South Herts CTC are a leisure cycling club & have weekly rides on Sundays and on Wednesday evenings. Shorter rides are now being run on Saturday and Sunday mornings twice a month. They also run 5 Miles to Fabulous rides for women and have occasional car-assisted rides, weekends away and longer tours.

Established in 1910, St Albans Model Aero Club offers a range of activities from flying R/C sport and scale aircraft to training novice members up to 'A' test level. Its active areas include glider aerotowing, slope soaring, hand-launched gliding, electric flight, helicopters and jets. New members welcome.
