This state community comprehensive school for girls, founded in 1920, has 1100 pupils and Business and Enterprise College status. Students join one of seven houses named after famous women. Facilities include a lecture theatre, drama and music rooms, media block, ICT suite, gym, sports hall, running track, heated swimming pool, netball and tennis courts. An Ofsted inspection in February 2008 found the school to be good overall (grade 2).
