The Waffle House at Kingsbury Watermill The Waffle House at Kingsbury Watermill

A very popular local institution, The Waffle House is located in the 16th century Kingsbury Watermill on the River Ver, close to Verulamium Park. Visitors enjoy tasty breakfast, lunch & afternoon/early evening fare (mainly waffles but alternative bread and rice accompaniments are available too). The Waffle House operates a walk-in policy (apart from Thu to Sat evenings) so be prepared to queue for a short while at weekends and busy times - it's worth the wait! Limited access for wheelchair users due to narrow entrances and steep stairwells.

Evening reservations by phone (01727 853502) are available for tables of four or more from 5.30pm on Thu, Fri and Sat.

Love it! The best waffles in town. - review by lucyl
If you haven't been - go. Such a treat, great surroundings, chaotic parking, (only because it is always busy)great for all ages. A little pricey but well worth the wait and money. [Sep 13] 23 Sep 13

Waffleicious - review by marmitemaisie
Been coming here for years, fantastic waffle choices, both savoury and sweet. Great outside in the spring and summer but also been inside too. The outside has improved over the years to provide heating, shade and lighting. Staff are always helpful. Only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is a bit pricey but well worth a treat. Kids love it too [Feb 13] 10 Feb 13

Yummy Waffles! - review by heavenisacupcake
The Waffle House is always packed at the weekend so I tend to try to go during the week but there's a reason it's always busy! It's in a great location and the waffles are yummy. I can never decide whether to go sweet or savoury but my sweet tooth usually wins ;) [Nov 11]

Good - depending on queue - review by arden1000
Beautiful place if you sit outside in good weather. Waffles are fun and aren't bad value. If you're there and it's quiet go for it (it has parking), not sure it's really worth the monster queues that can form. [Sep 11] 14 Sep 11

Waffle-tastic - review by rnk
How have I lived in St Albans for four years and not got to the Waffle House before today? The queues are a telling sign: people are coming back because they know it's worth it. OK, the waffles are a bit on the pricey side, but they're very tasty, the service is good, and the atmosphere is excellent on a sunny(ish) Summer's day. The Waffle House is sitting on a family-friendly goldmine. [June 11]

Never Been Disappointed - review by toptone
We've been using The Waffle House for years and seen it grow and grow. I don't know how may times I've been there but what I can say is, I've never been disappointed. If you want a tip, try the specials, they're always excellent! [Dec 10]

Very cute and popular but pricey - review by localgirl

This is a fab spot and a lovely building. I always find the waffles really pricey but good on them as they are always busy so they do seem to get away with it! [Feb 10]

A little bit quirky - review by roving reporter

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the waffle house and as usual the biggest dilemma was whether to go sweet or savoury. Solved this by one of each - cheese sauce with mushrooms on wholemeal waffle followed by Dutch apple and ice cream. Consistently friendly and efficient service and the waffles are very good indeed, but is it me or are prices creeping up? Worth it but I wouldn't afford this every week. [Jan 09]

A great place to retreat after a walk in the park - review by roving reporter

The waffle house can accommodate a lot of customers at a time and yet they are friendly and efficient. There is a vast range of delicious toppings for your waffle - sweet and savoury. Banana and ice cream is one of my favourites. The menu works for all ages. We never plan to go there but when we do we always enjoy it. It does what it says on the tin! [Nov 08]

Food lovers' heaven - review by me from harpenden

This is my idea of heaven. Not being a regular waffle eater a trip to the waffle house just off Verulamium Park is a real treat. Perfect for winter, summer, hot or cold - almost every imaginable topping is provided. Savoury, sweet, lovely toppings. Simple or complicated meals are provided for and if you are really up against it time-wise then look no further than a cheeky plain waffle. The symmetrical version of a crepe restaurant. Go there! For a lazy day in the park I would fully recommend it! [Nov 08]
