Would you like to give your time to help a local charity? We are looking for volunteers willing to give as much or as little time as they can to help us raise funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Guide Dogs for the Blind receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations. There are approx 380,000 registered blind or partially sighted people in UK but an estimated 2 million people have a visual impairment. Over 180,000 blindpartially sighted people never go out alone. Guide Dogs wants to give all blindpartially sighted people the freedom and confidence to live independent lives. The most obvious way that Guide Dogs does this is by training guide dogs to partner blindpartially sighted people (the lifetime cost of a guide dog is almost £50,000). But Guide Dogs for the Blind also campaigns on behalf of blindpartially sighted people, invests in ophthalmic research, and offers a variety of support and rehabilitation services to blindpartially sighted people including children and young adults.
