Wandering down road on the Saturday before Easter, I wondered where the people of St Albans were hiding. The streets were bare and from outside New Gulshan tandoori looked positively lifeless.
However, as my partner and I were really craving a curry we walked in and were led through to a back section of the restaurant which was filled with lots of lively customers, Hooray!
After being offered poppadoms three times by different members of staff we ordered two curries, various naans, vegetable sides and rice. When the food arrived it was hot, colourful and was arranged smartly on the table by the waiter.
Despite not being able to tell our dopiaza and bhuna apart by taste, the meal was absolutely superb. Fresh vegetables, flavoursome sauce and bite sized chunks of chicken all made for a mouthwatering Saturday night meal.
I must commend the value for money, dishes are so reasonably priced meaning that you can splurge on the little extras which really make your meal a taste explosion.
After leaving with the rather powerful lemon towel smell emanating from our persons, we ambled home full and content and looking forwards to our next visit. [Apr 12]
