Despite passing Veer Dhara pretty much every evening, we hadn't tried it 'til last night. To be honest, we'd been put off by the facade, having always thought it looked like a garage with the grille shutters and aluminium signage! It also looked quite empty (hardly surprising given the size of the place).
But try it we did. And we were very pleasantly surprised. The interior decor is lovely; a smart mix of ornate and contemporary styling.
The menu promises you 'an experience different to any other you have known'. While that might be a slight overclaim, it is a refreshing change on standard curry house fare. Favourite dishes have a modern twist and are lavishly presented.
Service is slick and friendly. In fact, the only downside was the background music which sounded suspiciously like a Richard Clayderman medley of popular classics - which jarred somewhat with the venue!
I'd still say Chilli Raj is the best Indian in town but for a more central location this is a smart alternative to the more old-school venues. Give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed. [Apr 11]
