A Delicious Range of Indian Dishes - review by heavenisacupcake
The staff of Veer Dhara are always very accommodating, friendly and polite, making the dining experience a very happy one. The food is delicious and it's lovely to see such a wide range of choice on the menu. The prices are a little higher than some but it is worth it to have dishes which are a bit different to the normal tikka, korma, madras that you get from most Indian restaurants (of course, you can still get these!) delicious! - review by localgirl
I was reluctant to try Veer Dhara as I remember the building as a costa and pizza hut and the orange beaded curtains were a bit bold BUT once inside the interior is very lovely. Service was perfect - efficient, smiley and they were happy to give us a doggy bag. Food was really good - we shared a vegetarian mixed starter which cost about £7.50 and it was plenty for two with lots of choice and a delicious salad. Main courses were well presented and my chicken in spinach was excellent with the chicken falling apart. For 5 stars I'd like to see some evidence of free range chicken and some local veggies. Would definitely go back. [Sep 11]

Fantastic curry with a difference! - review by anna f
I recently signed up for the Veer Dhara's VIP dining scheme, where you pay £20 for the year then on each visit you get a free main course. I think I will be using it a lot, and for takeaways too. Not your normal run-of-the mill all-tastes-the-same slop sauces, but real indian dishes with delicate spicing. I loved it. Service is excellent too. [June 11]

Cordon Bleu Curry - review by loki

Lamb shanks had been a more English based meal for me until that is I ate at the Veer Dhara. The menu is fantastic and combines some traditional curry house favourites with some fantastic dishes that I've certainly not experienced in a Curry House before. The service is pretty good but the food is fantastic, definitely the best curry that I've tasted in St. Albans. If you haven't tried the Veer Dhara it's certainly worth a visit. [May 11]

Much better on the inside than it looks from the outside! - review by poodey

Despite passing Veer Dhara pretty much every evening, we hadn't tried it 'til last night. To be honest, we'd been put off by the facade, having always thought it looked like a garage with the grille shutters and aluminium signage! It also looked quite empty (hardly surprising given the size of the place). But try it we did. And we were very pleasantly surprised. The interior decor is lovely; a smart mix of ornate and contemporary styling. The menu promises you 'an experience different to any other you have known'. While that might be a slight overclaim, it is a refreshing change on standard curry house fare. Favourite dishes have a modern twist and are lavishly presented. Service is slick and friendly. In fact, the only downside was the background music which sounded suspiciously like a Richard Clayderman medley of popular classics - which jarred somewhat with the venue! I'd still say Chilli Raj is the best Indian in town but for a more central location this is a smart alternative to the more old-school venues. Give it a whirl, you won't be disappointed. [Apr 11]

Great set menu - review by hopeful

For my first visit here my husband and I decided to have the set menu. The food was delicious and so much of it that I could have finished after the pre starter, starter and sorbet! After this came limitless mains and dessert, which I admit I had no more room for. Best not to eat too much before going! I will be going back! [Aug 10]

veerdhara at st albans london - review by ashish

I was in St Albans, London for 3 days and it was immediately after my trip to US for 2 weeks ( that means i was away from home since 2+ weeks). In my first visit to Veerdhara, i got so impressed with everything, that i could say probably andquot;its the best Indian restaurant away from Indiaandquot; (based on my experience, since i have visited many countries in almost all the geographies). food was delicious and represent true Indian taste. Ambiance was awesome and specially services and presentation. The concept of restaurant is very ethnic but at the same time very modern and lavish so you really feel like sitting in a palace in India and having great indian cuisine. And the best part is prices are reasonable too. I had a 3-4 meals during my stay and every time, i found it of very high standard. So all in all i can say its great value of money and its worth to visit, whenever you are in London. [May 10]

Best Indian food ever had - review by jasmina

This has got to be one of the top Indian restaurants in Hertfordshire. We lived in the area for five years and sampled many curry houses, but this is the one we will now travel across St Albans for. We hadn't been for a while, but went again last night, and the staff still remembered us and were as friendly and polite as ever. The food was still excellent; in particular, the paneer tikka starter, Lamb pasanda andamp; Chicken tikka masala. Have already booked for a group party next week on a occasion of my son's B'day !! Good vibe but problematic location - review by vendita

First time to dine here last night as part of a school mums' night out, so didn't really have a chance to scrutinise the menu. But 2 courses for £15.00 (includes service charge!) was amazing value. The starters was a selection of signature Indian restaurant fare and the main course consisted of 3 dishes plus rice. Service was very good. This place used to be Pizza Hut/Costa but the new owners have done a good job refurbishing the place. It had a contemporary feel to it, quite different from the other Indian restaurants in town which had a more traditional look. My favourite area though was the bar and lounge (where Costa used to be). It had a very relaxing vibe to it with its modern furnishings and muted tones. [Oct 09]
