Review Overview

PLEASE GO CHECK IT OUT - review by graham b
Great value, great service, amazing food. Places like this could die on us as its a bit off the beaten track in a small mews off George Street. Do not let this is amazing, and for value for money, it can not be beaten [May 13] 01 Jun 13

Haphazard but hopeful - review by poodey
I really wanted to love this place as it has all the right ingredients: it's independent, is tucked away in a great venue, and the menu makes for incredible value for money. Let's start with the good points. The menu is interesting, lots of nice twists on old favourites, is AMAZING value for money (you try finding lunch for £5 anywhere else in town)and if it's sunny, it's nice to sit out in the quirky courtyard. However, more than a few glitches let it down. The waiting staff were very flustered, dropping menus, cluttery and even glasses left right and centre. The OH's meal arrived without a few key ingredients. When questioning the missing elements, we were told 'Sorry, the chef's not in today' - ???! I really hope these are teething niggles and get sorted soon, because Number 23 has loads of potential. I'd say watch this space. [Apr 13] 29 Apr 13

starlight express - review by rnk
Thoroughly recommend this place. We popped in for an express lunch: fish cakes and fries, and pulled pork bap and chips were both delicious. And for a fiver including a soft drink, it was great value too. [Apr 13] 02 Apr 13

a wee gem - review by a henderson
Having no reviews to base my decision on and having a fussy eater in the family, eating here was a bit of a gamble but, wow! Worth every penny and mouthful. Tucked away in a little courtyard, this unassuming place serves up generous portions of deliciously cooked, traditional British food. It's well worth the visit and deserves more attention. Try it out! [Apr 13] 01 Apr 13
