New Season: The fabulous 80-year-old model village and railway reopens for the year. It's a great place to visit for all ages and the annual pass is excellent value. Open 10am-5pm from 11 Feb to end Oct. More.

  • 14 Feb - Gladiators in the Arena: Create an exciting picture with moving gladiators!  From 2.30-4.30pm. Cost £1 (& entry charge for non-residents). For ages 3 to 11. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • 15 Feb - Meet Queen Boudicca: Meet this amazing queen in the Museum galleries.Story telling sessions by Boudicca at 2.30pm and 3.30 pm. Free (entry charge for non-residents). All children must be accompanied by an adult

  • 13 Feb - James & the Giant Peach: Celebrate the 50th birthday of this amazing Roald Dahl story. Make some brilliant James and the Giant peach souvenirs to take away with you.
  • 14 Feb - Dr Who: This fantastic programme was watched for the first time in 1964. Enjoy a morning of Dr Who activities including making your own dalek. For ages 8 to 13.
  • 15 Feb - Man on the Moon: As the 1960s drew to an end America won the race to put the first man on the moon – or did they? Find out about the 1969 moon landing and make an astronauts back pack. For ages 8 to 13.
  • 16 Feb - Incredible Icarus: Hear the thrilling story of Icarus and his escape from the labyrinth. You can then create an embellished picture of this amazing hero and make your own labyrinth game. For ages 6 to 13.

All sessions are from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and cost £5. Book and pay in advance on 01727 819340. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear old clothes as the sessions can be rather messy.

Natural History Museum at Tring

  • 13 & 14 Feb - Archer Fish - The Best Shot: Archer Fish accurately squirt their prey with water. See if you can compete by making your own squirting crafty card fish. 30 minute workshops from 10.15am to 2.30pm. Tickets £1.50 available on the day Suitable for all ages
  • 14 Feb - Wildlife Photography Workshop:Calling all budding photographers. Bring your camera along to Tring Reservoirs to pick up some useful tips and improve your photography skills with wildlife photographer Jill Pakenham. 10.15am to 12noon. Tickets £4, advanced booking required. For adults and children aged 8+
  • 15 Feb - Penguins: Make your own rockhopper penguin to take home. Tickets £1.50, available on the day. For all ages. 30 minute workshops from 10.15am to 2.30pm.
  • 16 & 17 Feb - Komodo Dragon: The Komodo dragon is one of the most feared lizards. Keep out of danger and make your own friendly dragon. Tickets £1.50, available on the day. For all ages. 30 minute workshops from 10.15am to 2.30pm.

Les Miserables School Edition: Accomplished young performers from Sticks and Stones theatre school will sweep their audience through an epic tale of passion and destruction, against the backdrop of a nation in the grip of revolution. This spectacular adaptation of Victor Hugo's masterpiece performed by a cast of entirely under 19’s is not to be missed. At 7.30pm with Saturday matinee. Tickets.

St Albans Cathedral

Free Family Discovery Morning: This fun trail for half term looks at families connected to the Cathedral; the famous, the infamous and the outrageous!  After the trail children can enjoy a themed craft activity. Suitable for ages 3 to 11. All children attending must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Drop from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Free.
