I go here loads, probably because i think its st albans healthiest restaurant. Can get swamped with screaming kids and service tries to be 'wagamama' but i find it can be over-familiar and irritating - get your elbows of my place mat!. Food and value are excellent though. [Sep 11]

Great Staff - great Chicken Katsu!

For a chain restaurant this does a great job at making you feel like you are in the only one. The food is always on form and if you decide you don't fancy what you ordered they will happily change it for. The atmosphere is relaxed and you are encouraged to stay as long as you like hugging your free tap water! Staff can't be praised enough, always friendly and happy to suggest or help. [Feb 11]

Fast, filling and always fresh

We always enjoy Wagamama's food and the St. Albans branch is the best we've visited. We are regular visitors as for the quality and taste, nowhere else matches up in the local area. I'm a fussy so and so and often order my favourite dishes with no garnish and/or less spice. As all food is made fresh and to order, this is rarely a problem. It seems that you can take out elements of a dish, however, you can't add new ones. That said, some of the Ramen (soup) dishes come with a spicy Miso stock but I have been able to substitute this for the regular chicken stock whenever i've remembered to ask.

Service is informal and the staff are generally knowledgeable and efficient. The only thing that lets the place down recently are the dirty glasses. Almost every time we've been there in the last three months, i've been given a cloudy, dirty glass for my drink with dried food and/or someone elses lipstick on the side. So please get some new dishwashers, Wagamama and you'll get a 5 out of 5 rating! [Aug 10]

Playground that serves food!

All the usual Wagamama fare, in a great location in central St Albans. Avoid going before 7:30 though if you don't like kids riding around the restaurant on bikes while you eat! [Jun 09]

Consistently good

We ducked in out of the rain on Easter Saturday at midday with our three-year-old and his grandparents - who had never tried Wagamama. Being early lunchers, we bagged the cosy booth at the back (more comfy than the rows of wooden benches, especially for the wrinklies). Within minutes, we were tucking into a tasty range of Wagamama's well known, freshly cooked noodle and rice dishes. By 1pm people were queuing for tables - a sure sign of how popular this consistently good branch of the chain is (although our advice if it's busy is try Sazio or another of the many family friendly local restaurants). Old fave comes up trumps

This evening it was wet and cold and we were late back to St Albans. We'd been to the London Wagamamas so were aware of their work, but never the St Albans one. It's tucked away but was packed on a Monday night - a good sign. Service was friendly and attentive and there were some smaller tables for two (not always the case with other Wagamamas). I chose the Yasai Itame - a delicious Thai-style noodles and vegetables in coconutty soup, while my wife ordered Ginger Chicken Udon - more of a stir-fried noodle and ginger offering - which she also enjoyed. We left sated and ready for the windy journey home. Lovely when an old favourite comes up trumps. [Nov 08]
