Definitely gone down hill...
I used to love the Goat but it really has gone down hill.... The food is pretty bad and over priced and all the staff are rude. I don't think I have seen any of them smile for a good year or so. I am boycotting it!! [Feb 10]
Going ... or gone ... downhill
I'm with the last reviewer on the sulky bar staff - perhaps we were there on the same night! Also - the quality of food has really taken a dive. We used to go to the Goat fairly regularly for traditional pub food - nothing fancy, pies, fish and chips etc, but tasty. We went a while ago and I was disappointed. We gave them another try last week, and my fish and chips were truly grim. My husband's pork was basically indeterminate meat swimming in gravy with undercooked roasties. Needs to pull its socks up or will surely be going the way of so many pubs nowadays. [Oct 09]
Come on barmaid, a smile costs nothing!
The Goat is a lovely pub, loads of nooks and crannies perfect for the various little meetings/get togethers which were happening there last night. But it's really let down by possibly the most miserable staff I've ever encountered in a pub. Sullen, sulky, and so downcast - come on people, how much does it cost to look a customer in the eye, smile and maybe (shock horror) say please or thank you? Making customers feel like they are hugely inconveniencing you by asking for a pint is not on. Hence the miserable one-star rating. [Sep 09]
