Lovely atmosphere
I love this cafe. Coffee and cakes are delicious and it has a nice relaxed vintage feel to it. Especially nice to sit out on a sunny morning. The only reason it missed out on 5 stars is that the service is a little bit slow and the coffee prices are a tiny bit high for what you get. [June 11]
good but could be better
We stopped here for a quick Saturday lunch. Good marks for the atmosphere and decor of the place, and the welcome we received. We had a sandwich each - coronation chicken in one and chorizo and roasted veg in the other. Quite tasty but served on supermarket sliced bread and with no accompaniment, and the service was a little slow, so slightly less marks for that. The cakes (brownie and carrot cake) were good though... [Jul 10]
Lovely interior, fab cakes
This is a lovely cafe, well worth walking down hatfield road to find. Calm and vintage-feel interior, with mis-matched cups and saucers and pretty cloths. The cakes are made by the owner and local friends and include cupcakes, lemon loafs etc. The lunches are tasty and different - tarts, large sandwiches, made by the owner. He used to do the coffee at the flea market in the town hall. Service was a little slow the first few times we went in but I think that is probably due to settling in. The people working there are always friendly and welcoming. It's so good to have a good cafe that is not part of a chain, so I hope it does well. [Dec 09]
