Why haven't we been here before?
Two tips for you. 1. Don't attempt to get a table in St Albans on the evening of Mother's Day if you haven't booked. 2. If, like me, you haven't already tried it, give Little Marrakech a whirl. After wandering aimlessly around town on the evening of Mother's Day, having being turned away from the usual suspects, we passed Little Marrakech. Neither my friend nor I had tried it before, but we spied a free table for 2 so decided to pounce. And aren't we glad we did. Friendly, welcoming staff. With nice touches like bread, olives, unusual wines (try the 'very popular' Moroccan white, yum) it makes for a really good night out. The decor is fun, the food is tasty (and huge - you can get a doggy bag!) and you don't feel rushed. It won't win any Michelin stars, but it certainly gets our vote for a hearty, warm, welcoming spot. Can't wait to go back. [Mar 12]
Yummy!
This is one restaurant that pleases everyone in my family! My 5 year old loves it, and I find the food gorgeous. The menu is varied enough, but the Moroccan food is such high-quality--you won't be disappointed! [Jan 11]
Lunch for 2 for less than £20!
Thought the interior of Little Marrakech was great and always wanted to go in, so a weekday lunch was the perfect excuse. The food was great - tasty meatball tagine, my wife had a nice mozzarella salad all washed down with a Nastro Azurro. The price? £18! Say no more... [Oct 09]
very authentic
This is our second favourite restaurant in St Albans. We've been for the lunch-time special, and in the evenings. We like - the attentive (but unfussy) service; The Moroccan decor (it's a bit OTT for some, but all brought from Marrakech - it makes you feel you're somewhere different); the food - especially those dishes in a tagine; the seating plan - none of those close-up tables in a long row; the price - very reasonable. We've taken friends who know Marrakech and they thought it was good too. [Apr 09]
Marrakesh Miracle
Good honest food, try the Onion Soup which is just gorgeous. Good prices and something different to try. Lamb Tagine is just scrummy. Decor is a bit much but I can imagine it's lovely at night. Try it! [Nov 08]
