The Snug Bar

The Snug is a modern bar and cocktail lounge set in a traditional pub building (the Fleur de Lys) in the heart of St Albans. On offer is an extensive cocktail menu, all day breakfasts, lunchtime deals and a range of food. Cocktails are 2-for-1 during Happy Hour (3pm to 7pm) and those in the Service Industry can take advantage of a Sunday Night Industry Card offering 2-for-1 cocktails all night.If you fancy learning some mixology, cocktail making classes are available and can be booked online.

Great All Rounder

A good location with an excellent choice of good quality European beers, backed by good size food portion, good food and always a special or new item to try. Everytime we have visited have always had friendly helpful staff. Recommend for a lunchtime snack or a full blown evening out. [Aug 11]

Great place for a cocktail

We met some friends here and ended up staying far longer than we planned to after settling into the comfy chairs in the outside rear courtyard area on a warm summer's evening. The Snug seems to attract all ages but that's part of its appeal - the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the huge range of cocktails on offer and the prices are what you'd expect to pay (happy hour and their mailing list offers help!). The drivers in our group also appreciated the non-alcoholic 'fruit fizzes', and the free refills on coke, lemonade and soda. We didn't try the food but the menu and what other people were eating looked good - something for next time. 4 and a half stars. [Jul 11]

Teenage hangout

A nice looking bar with good choice (if overpriced) range of cocktails. Came here for a night out with group of (late) thirty-something girl friends, and we felt OLD!!! Was a Friday night, everyone else seemed to be about 15 and wearing the sort of clubwear and massive heels you only ever see in small towns!! I doubt we'll be back........ [Jun 11]

Refill your boots

Everyone at the snug is really trendy, good looking and about half my age, so it's not quite for me, but it's a good place for a quick stop. One thing that gets the extra star though: free refills if you're having one of a range of soft drinks. Perfect if you're a designated driver and fed up with being overcharged for your lime and soda everywhere else. [Dec 09]
