Meatpackers New York Grill

Meatpackers New York Grill

THIS RESTAURANT CLOSED IN THE SUMMER OF 2010 AND IS REVERTING TO PREZZO.

Formerly Prezzo, Meatpackers New York Grill comes from the same chain and opened in Summer 2009. Its menu includes burgers, sandwiches, steaks, ribs and salads. As the name implies, this is a restaurant for carnivores with just a few vegetarian appetizers and entrees (although the small print on the menu states that some dishes can be made without meat). The drinks selection includes bottled beers, wine, soft drinks and milkshakes.

Great food Great fun!

My Thursday night visit to Meatpackers was both much anticipated and long overdue. Entering the heavy wooden door, the restaurant seemed a little dark and imposing, however, a speedy and friendly greeting from an efficient waitress was all we needed to encourage us in. The menu was as expected with tasty American treats. We started with spicy chicken, served a cute metal pot. The mains of a half rack of ribs and a steak sandwich were served on wooden talking point platters, with a side of continued excellant service. I enjoyed my Meatpackers experience. A unique eating place in St.Albans, amongst the many Thais and Indians. I look forward to my return visit. [Apr 10]

Hideous

We had an awful time here when we visited as a couple. There were far too many staff to begin with, but these soon wittled away when it became apparent that at 9.20pm (after arriving at 8pm), our main courses were still not with us. These were only ribs and a burger, I had to ask for them, only for them to be hurried over, with the burger literally raw. I mentioned this and the waitress told me they were supposed to be like this ( it had blood on the bun) and then took it away. It returned not much better and to be honest by this point I wasn't hungry. Shame as I was looking forward to it as its my sort of food, but we shall not be returning as it was really expensive and really bad. [Sep 09]

A pleasant surprise

We were expecting something along the likes of a TGI Friday's or Frankie and Benny's but Meatpackers was at least two notches above these two. We were delighted with how the food was presented. Each dish was served on wooden chopping blocks, with dips and starters presented in ramekin-like dishes. Portion sizes were just right and although the bbq sauce for my half a rack of ribs was bit too sweet for my taste, the rest of the food (burger for hubby, spag and meatballs for daughter) were fairly good. Staff very attentive and professional. Good value for money. [Aug 09]
