I've started so I'll finish...
We stopped off here for drinks and dinner the other evening - four of us. It's a great old building, deceptively large inside and a range of comfy spaces to sit, inside and out. The food was quite good - my shepherds pie was hot and tasty, and my friends enjoyed their scampi, roast chicken and vegetable tart respectively. The desserts were a bit mixed. We liked the chocolate brownie, but were less convinced by the raspberry and white chocolate pavlova. As for the service, it depends who we got - one chap was friendly and helpful, the other really quite sullen. But if you're going on a Monday night, remember that they tend to have quizes running - a bit of a conversation stopper if you're not taking part! [May 09]

Great beer...
As pubs go we’re biased as far as the King Harry is concerned – it’s our local and it’s our favourite. Admittedly it doesn’t have location in its favour but to be honest that is it’s only bad point – the beer is great with a wide selection of novelty ales for the CAMRA crew, lagers and bottled beers – the Belgian lagers are my personal favourite. This is no old man’s boozer. It reflects the cosmopolitan nature of St Albans and the affluent area of St Stephens from where it draws its locals. The atmosphere is friendly the interior has a relaxed casual feel with an eclectic mix of benches and well loved sofas to sit on. Children are welcome inside, but there is a covered area outside too with heat lamps for the hardened January drinkers/smokers. Food is served in a gastro pub style and is reasonably priced. Overall, well worth a visit, but make sure you bring a full wallet with you – you’ll need it! [Oct 08]
