One of the larger garden centres in St Albans. Burston has all the usual features including coffee shop and restaurant. Burston is also a major nursery to the Garden centre trade, growing roses and bedding plants for the wholesale garden centre industry. Adjacent is Hertfordshire Fisheries - also part of the Burston group - specialising in outdoor and tropical fish.

The best garden centre in St Albans for me
I really look forward to going to Burston's for a good look around. It's perfect in every way from the friendly staff and pleasing layout to the huge range of plants and products. Everything is displayed beautifully and you can pick up all your year's birthday presents and have them superbly gift wrapped whilst collecting your garden supplies. The prices are excellent and no visit is complete without a quick look at the smiling baby turtles in the aquatic department and a wistful gaze at the waterfall displays. You need to get down there! Speak as you find
Moved into the area last year and was recommended to shop there by a friend. The staff are really friendly and helpful (quite amazing these days!) and they have a great range of plants. My daughter loved all the fish too. The restaurant was also a bonus with it's home made food and good sized portions!!! [Dec 10]

Excellent Service and Value - Visit Burstons!
I recently visited Burston Garden Centre and I have to say that I am amazed by the level of customer care I received. As a novice gardener I cannot fault the level of friendly, helpful and professional service from the staff. I really enjoyed the visit and will certainly be returning soon. I'm surprised that there is a bad review of the centre on this site. I think Burston has a fair Returns Policy. You can still get an exchange! [Aug 10]

Refund Problem
I tried to return some items and was refused a refund. After complaining to the manager I was informed they changed their returns policy in November 2009 and they refused to help. Just down the road is Ayletts Nurseries who have a full cash refund policy with no questions asked. From now on I am driving right past Burstons. [Jul 10]

Lunch at Burstons
Although the food is really quite good, I have to say it is very expensive. I often take my kids there when off school and the kids lunchbox is very expensive for what you get (and at least £1.50 more than Ayletts who do the same box!). For one adult and a child, lunch never comes to less than £13/14, sometimes even £15, which to me is a lot for a sandwich and a kid's lunchbox! Burstons, take note, think 'Credit Crunch' prices please!! [Apr 09]
