location location (cough) location
The previous reviewer has summed this cafe up rather nicely. It's very well located and serves some good stuff, but you get the feeling you've stumbled across a slightly peculiar, well-kept secret. I have to admit i did quite enjoy my stolen hour drinking tea and reading the paper, while the elderly ladies buzzed around me. [Dec 09]

Coffee, lettuce and nighties anyone?
Where can you enjoy a coffee while eyeing up a selection of ladies nighties? BHS café has not only this but a bizarre selection of photos of, among other things, lettuce! Fortunately this didn't detract from the decent coffee but the accompanying muffin was ruined by a splurge of synthetic cream/sugar in the middle (who thought that would be a good idea?) Despite this the thrifty will be glad to hear that BHS' take on Starbucks comes in a good deal cheaper with a decent fruit salad costing around a pound less. While it's not the most salubrious location to enjoy a coffee in St Albans, we can't fault them on the basics – good coffee and great prices. Worth a visit just to see the bizarre interior. [Oct 08]
