Founded in 1976, this active group is a member of The Marquetry Society (Marquetry is the coverage of the entire surface of a board or piece of furniture with veneer, in the form of a skillfully applied design or picture). Members meet weekly in St Albans from September to June. The group arranges guest speakers and demonstrations, holds group and inter-group competitions and participates in the annual national exhibition. A beginners' class is run annually for anyone who would like to learn the craft – fees include a starter pack of veneers and full membership (check website for current costs).
