Founded in 1924, the St Albans Bach Choir regularly performs a wide variety of music in the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban, under the direction of the Abbey's Master of Music. Membership is free to young people under 26 and auditions are held twice yearly to assess vocal range, sight reading and aural abilities. Choir members are expected to have previous choral singing experience. A Friends scheme is open to supporters of the Bach Choir. Benefits include priority booking, discounted tickets, a free concert programme, newsletter and social events.
