The best Indian restaurant in St Albans? Could well be...

Have had a takeaway from here before and the food was fantastic, but have only just got around to going to the restaurant (my wife andamp; I went there the other week for our anniversary). Really can't fault it: lovely surroundings - they have made the most of the space available with a great art deco look - along with attentive (but not over-attentive) service and great food. We ordered far too much but staff were happy to give us a doggy bag to take away. Highly recommended! [Sep 11]

Great curry

Great curry, with a varied and excellent menu especially the tandoris and veg sides Always busy with a lively atmosphere. Service is good, and food is great value, i always order way to much! Devdas is a cut above the usual curry places. Have been back loads of times. [Sep 11]

Very positive experience

We regularly get take aways from Devdas but this week I had two eat in meals. I have read previous reviews with negative comments about the service and can't say that I agree. One of my visits this week was with young children and I received a friendly welcome and a polite service despite having a stroppy toddler in tow. The food at Devdas is well presented and I have found it of outstanding quality on every occasion. Definately my favourite Indian restaurant at the moment. [Apr 10]

Service without a smile :-(

Tasty curry, interesting varied menu offering lots of variety on the usual favourites. But the staff are a pretty surly bunch - abrupt, bordering on rude, and service is rushed. Worth the short trot out of town for the food, but there are much friendlier places offering equally good food with the added bonus of a smiley happy staff. [Nov 09]

Great takeaway!!

We have both visited Devdas and had deliveries from them and we've been v impressed with the variety of more unusual dishes on offer and the quality of the food. We have without exception enjoyed every meal we have had from Devdas and would recommend it to others. (Dodgy decor in the restaurant though!!) :) [Oct 09]

Does the job

We've had takeaways from Devdas quite a few times, and it always does the job. Fairly quick delivery, good food generally, though the poppadoms were a bit stale last time (no biggie because they were on the house). [Nov 08]
