Where's the cinema?

There isn't one. But there's new hope that St Albans will have its own independent cinema. The art deco Odeon on London Road closed in 1995 and was sold in 2008. In Dec 2009, James Hannaway, owner of The Rex agreed a deal to buy and restore the cinema, with huge public support. Latest news and how to help.

You can catch a movie at:

  • the Alban Arena and Maltings Arts Theatre - see below
  • Campus West, Welwyn Garden City - see selections below
  • The Rex - a beautiful, independent art deco cinema in Berkhamsted. Tel: 01442 877759.
  • Vue Watford - an eight screen cinema at Woodside Leisure Park in Garston. Tel: 08712 240 240 or book online.
  • Odeon Hatfield- a nine screen complex at the Galleria Shopping Centre. Tel: 0871 22 44 007 or book online.
